I opened Outlook, and went to File>Options>Search> and hit the Indexing Options button, ticked the boxes I wanted indexed in the Modify area, then pressed the Advanced button and hit the delete and rebuild

I then Turned Windows Desktop Search back on via Control Panel>Programs andįeatures>Turn Windows Features on or off and rebooted. Then I rebooted, opened Outlook, closed Outlook and rebooted. I uninstalled Windows Desktop Search via the Control Panel>Programs and Features>Turn Windows Features on or off.

Then rebooted again, and rebuilt the index with the appropriated items ticked. I cleared out the index of everything, re-booted, and rebuilt the index with nothing checked (to ensure it was clean). I ran the Scanpst utility, and it found errors (and fixed them). Unfortunately with Microsoft's new subscription based software, I do not have a saved downloaded copy of 2013 to revert I MUST have the ability to search emails, and if it can not be done using Outlook 2016 then I would like to be able to roll back to 2013. I have been disconnected from every chat and phone call that I have attempted so far, and have spent countless hours trying to contact someone at Microsoft to get this fixed. (shame on me for not doing more research before allowing Office to "upgrade") In doing some looking around, this seems to have been a problem for the past 7 months, and still not a viable solution from anyone. It comes back with "we couldn't find what you were looking for".

In Outlook 2013 I could search my emails quickly and flawlessly (including archives) in my 25GB *.pst file.Īfter "upgrading" to 2016, Outlook will no longer search my emails.

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit if that matters. I recently "upgraded" from Office 2013 Home to Office 2016 Home via my 365 subscription.
